Four months ago, I was sweeping floors to help pay for my college tuition. Yesterday, the
Chicago Tribune featured a story about my work on the “Personal Video Project” for Illinois’ next U.S. Senator, David Hoffman (
read the story here). If you told me this would happen four months ago, I would’ve thought you were crazy.
My name is Robert Edstrom, and I’m a first year political science major at the University of Chicago. Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, I am no stranger to Windy City politics. So when I heard about David Hoffman running for Senate, I immediately looked for the fine print, and what I found amazed me. As someone who became an expert at cleaning through my summer job, I have to say, David Hoffman is as clean as they come.
Walking into the Hoffman for Illinois Campaign Headquarters for an interview, I was quickly swept off my feet and charged with heading up the campaign’s budding “Personal Video Project”. The next day, I found myself in the back seat of the car with David Hoffman, and I began recruiting people for our first personalized videos.
Four months later, I am the Personal Video Coordinator and oversee a small staff of interns in running the “Personal Video Project”. We’ve sent out nearly 500 videos, which have been viewed by thousands of people across the state. Working on this project and the Hoffman for Illinois campaign has provided me with a one of a kind experience.
With early voting already underway, and the election only 15 days away, we need your help now! David wants to make a personal video for you. Please email me at
robert@hoffmanforillinois.com, and I will be able to put a video together for you to send to everyone you know.
Thanks so much for your support, and have a Happy Martin Luther King Day!
