Senator Adlai Stevenson Endorses David Hoffman for United States Senate
Chicago, January 26, 2010 - Senator Adlai E. Stevenson III, who represented Illinois in the United States Senate from 1970 through 1981, endorsed David Hoffman for the United States Senate today.

"David Hoffman's record proves his independence, integrity, and ability," said Stevenson. "It even includes working in the U.S. Senate so he would land on his feet upon taking office. David Hoffman is a fresh hope for our stained Illinois politics. I know he will do his best to make this election a refreshing contest of ideas and ideals and am pleased to endorse him for the Senate seat once occupied by President Barack Obama - and Adlai Stevenson."

Stevenson joins the growing list of Illinois progressive leaders, including Judge Abner Mikva and Dawn Clark Netsch, who are supporting Hoffman because of his commitment to transparent government and progressive ideals.

"I am proud to receive the endorsement of another leading progressive voice in Illinois," said Hoffman. "Adlai Stevenson is a model for progressive policies and government accountability - long before it was common campaign rhetoric, he actually did something about government transparency by opening up the state's books while serving as treasurer."

"I am committed to being the type of Senator who will honor the tradition of the Stevenson family by standing up for the people and taking on the powerful interests who corrupt our system."
